As a result of a brainstorming session the concept for Shoot for a Cure was born in November of 2006. A new venue for an event to raise funding for Iowa’s Families and all those affected by Cystic Fibrosis was needed. A Clay target shotgun event was suggested and it took off. We quickly gained the enthusiastic support of New Pioneer Clay Target Center (Waukee, Iowa) and its board President, Kurt Lehman. What followed would come as no surprise to Iowa’s outdoors and shooting enthusiasts. Word of mouth traveled fast. After a few contacts were made for ideas and help in organizing and carrying out this event, a network of enthusiastic supporters, sponsors and volunteers was formed.
The success of the annual Shoot for a Cure is possible each year due to the generosity of the sponsors, supporters, volunteers and participants (many, but not all, are outdoors and shooting enthusiasts), who come together to enjoy this event and leave having made a significant impact on thousands of children and families who are affected by cystic fibrosis.
The report of each shot at the annual Shoot for a Cure designates support for the CF foundation and demonstrates the commitment of Iowa’s shooting community towards an important charitable cause.
Please join us again this year!
